Probably would have burned Mr. Wizard at the stake...

Substitute teacher fired for being a wizard, among other things...
Teacher Jim Piculas does a magic trick where a toothpick disappears and then reappears.Piculas recently did the 30-second trick in front of a classroom at Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes.Piculas said he then got a call from the supervisor of teachers, saying he'd been accused of wizardry."I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments you need to come in right away,'" he said.

J's reaction to the "wizarding" story yesterday was, and I quote: "Bullshit, probably. Sounds like they had a lot of maybe-legit grievances against the teacher and he's trying to spin it into something it wasn't."

I'm reserving judgment on this one.

Oh, I am sure you're right that this teacher had other issues.

It's just the:
1) tempest in a teapot (thus the huge manatee) over it
2) the school's confirmation in many articles that they did indeed accuse him of wizardry (inter alia)
... that make this story pure hillarity.
