Critically important academic paper

If you're in academia, read academic papers, go to conferences, or just like conference papers, you should have a look at this presentation from the AAAS:

PPT available from http://isotropic.org/papers/chicken.ppt

Thanks to a certain list I am on for sharing this exciting development in academics.

That, takes talent.

Now if only it didn't leave me wondering whether that's what presentations sound like to people outside the field...

The end part is the best.
Mind you, it requires the earlier part in order to BE the best.
But that's the way this sort of presentation works.

The ever-ready reserve slide with "I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING BIG MATH, I WAS READY FOR JUST YOUR QUESTION" definitely wins.

That was the capper, but the red-bordered pop-up somewhere around slide 6 was fantastic too.

Agreed

The more times I read the word chicken, the more it looks like it's spelled wrong.

YES! It had exactly that effect on me. It's a subliminal campaign to change the spelling of "chicken," I bet!

I'm awaiting the learned rebuttal from one J. Malkovich.
